I need more friends

Even though I have piles and piles of work to do (like the tutorial I'm supposed to be creating...), I decided I desperately needed to get gardening.

Not that I have a yard or anything. I've had my potted false aralia since Walla Walla (it managed to survive a winter of being ignored in the cold!). I bought a dwarf schefflera last June, and I also have a completely unknown plant that I bought at a dollar store this past January. Even though I have these three houseplants, I decided I desperately needed more pretty.

I'm trying to grow some cosmos and lavender from seed. Unfortunately, I planted them yesterday and today is all cloudy and cold. I'm pretty sure the seed are confused about the lack of sun.

I really do hope that some of these seeds sprout so that I can transplant them when I go home in a month. I want pretty flowers, not just green plants.

(I feel like a really bad plant owner because my false aralia is sad. I almost killed it this past summer after leaving it in a hot car for a day. And now I think it hates me.)

Really, I'm working hard to keep myself from digging up the seeds to see how they're doing. I hear that's bad for some reason.

I am so not a plant person. I am proud of myself that I just bought some nice fake hydrangea. They are so pretty. I need to cut them down so that they look better in the vase. My daddy even bought me special plyers to accomplish this.

I need more friends that live up here (or, I need to live where my friends are... hmm). My social life is terrible! In fact I can't even remember a time when my social life up here was actually GOOD. WTF!

I'm envious that you get to have your little mini garden. I hope the flowers grow!! I have some Columbine seeds, but they are old now... If you have the little packets, and it's past the date (it says it was packaged for 2007 or something) can you still plant them? Or do the seeds actually die?? I want to grow flowers!!

Two points:

First, I do not believe in fake flowers. They don't smell pretty. They collect dust. And they're fake. My apartment always has a vase of fresh flowers (sometimes stolen from the UA campus) on the table and I appreciate that. Real plants rock.

Second: I love my plants more than is reasonable. I don't know what I'll do if my false aralia dies. Cry, probably. I might post pictures of my plants later, because I'm nerdy like that.

Do it, post pictures. I'd be posting pictures except nothing exciting ever happens in my life.
